So much for providing part 2 of the update over the weekend too. Sorry for the delay! I know everyone is impatiently awaiting more pictures and stories (or at least my mom is...)
We arrived in Berlin on Tuesday 16 February and went straight to Klaus and Hildegard Kanstein's home. Klaus and Hildegard have been friends with my grandparents for close to 30 years and I stayed with them three years ago in Berlin with my family. They were gracious enough to invite me back, along with the four other girls. Klaus and Hildegard were fantastic hosts and provided us with many warm meals and wonderful stories.
During our time in Berlin, we visited many WWII and Cold War sights and learned a lot about the history thanks to Klaus' wisdom. It was very cold in Berlin and there was quite a bit of snow on the ground as you can see from the photos.

One afternoon, we decided to stay at the house and make muffins for Klaus and Hildegard. They had mentioned Nana's recipes and I was able to email and get a couple. We made apple muffins and cappuccino chocolate chip muffins! It was really nice to be able to give a little something back to the Kanstein's as they made us feel so welcome during the week.
Berlin was my favorite destination of the trip, even though I had seen much of it before. The other girls really enjoyed it as well, but we were all ready for some warmer weather in Italy...
